Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Jared Betts studied animation in Miramichi
at NBCC before furthering his education at ACAD (Alberta College of Art and
Design). He later moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia where he earned a Bachelor
of Fine Arts (BFA) from NSCAD University in May 2010. In his senior year he
studied under Daniel Hutchinson and Garry Neil Kennedy.

Since 2007, he has displayed paintings in numerous solo shows and over
30 group shows including Argyle Fine Art, The Khyber, Utility Gallery and
Eyelevel Gallery in Halifax, NS as well as various venues in the Atlantic
Provinces and Iceland.

In the summer of 2010, Jared was chosen to represent Atlantic Canada for an
artist residency in the town of Skagaströnd, Iceland. He exhibited in a solo show
in Akureyri and took part in numerous group shows with international artists
from the Nes Artist Residency. For 2011, Jared has been selected to represent
New Brunswick for an artist residency in Costa Rica. He will also be an artist in
residence at the new Centre des Arts et de la Culture de Dieppe during the fall
of 2011. He currently works out of his studio in Moncton, New Brunswick.
